Today was an interesting day … the rain finally caught up with us and we rode in the rain for about 20 miles! At the SAG stop I had the opportunity to meet of the the NY State Police’s finest … Trooper David Overhoff … he was nice enough to talk to us and take a “photo op” with us … as usual our greeting to each other was … “be safe, out there!”
It was a 95 mile day and even with the rain … I still managed a 17.8 mph average. Most of the time I rode with Kiwi Rick … because my “energy tank” was on empty for most of the day. After the 2nd SAG stop … I started feeling better and I tried to ride with the “fast bunch” but I just didn’t have it today … they dropped me like a hot potatoe … on one of the many, many hills we had to climb today … almost 4,000 feet of climb and then add in the “rain” … well … what an incredible riding day … then the rain cleared!
