Be a Hero Bike Tour
The Be a Hero Bike Tour was a 30 day cycling event organized by Scott Van Duzer, founder of the Van Duzer Foundation. During this ride, members of the Boys and Girls club of St. Lucie County Florida cycled for 30 days from Lake Park, Florida to Washington, DC. to encourage blood donations. The foundation worked to organize blood drives during each stop and challenged other Boys and Girls Clubs across the county to hold blood drives during the 30-day ride.

"Be a Hero Bike Tour Video"
This video is of the "Be a Hero" bike tour. It was a joint effort by the Boys and Girls Clubs and the Blood Banks on the east coast. Young adults from Florida rode in 10 mile relays from Florida to Washington D.C. Our Oakland Police Retired officer, Larry Frederick rode the entire distance. The video captured the good things that are happening in our country and that we need to get behind. The ride ended in Washington DC at the US Department of Health with ranking members of that agency joining the Larry and these fine young adults. It makes you want to go out and donate blood or take a bike ride or both. |
